Cielito Querido Café, Mexican City, Mexico

" Cielito Querido Café is a Latin American reinvention of the coffeehouse experience. It is a place that surprises, confronts and engages all senses through its space, aroma, taste, color and history. Drawing their inspiration from Mexican history, the designers incorporated the joyful colors, symbolic language and illustrated graphics of the late 19th century into the striking interior. The Latin American sign-maker´s trade is celebrated through the display of product labels from old grocery and general strokes, generating an evocative graphic language belonging to a culture that is spectacularly rich in history. In this unique space, however, that past has been radically reinvented in a joyful, poetic, nostalgic, celebration of contemporary Mexican life."

Carta de Tiago Bettencourt

Não falei contigo
com medo que os montes e vales que me achas
caíssem a teus pés...
Acredito e entendo

É que hoje acordei e lembrei-me
que sou mago feiticeiro
Que a minha bola de cristal é folha de papel
E nela te pinto nua, nua
numa chama minha e tua.
numa chama minha e tua.

Desconfio que ainda não reparaste
que o teu destino foi inventado
por gira-discos estragados
aos quais te vais moldando...
E todo o teu planeamento estratégico
de sincronização do coração
são leis como paredes e tetos
cujos vidros vais pisando...

Anseio o dia em que acordares
por cima de todos os teus números
raízes quadradas de somas subtraídas
sempre com a mesma solução...
Podias deixar de fazer da vida
um ciclo vicioso
harmonioso ao teu gesto mimado
e à palma da tua mão...

É que hoje acordei e lembrei-me
que sou mago feiticeiro
e a minha bola de cristal é folha de papel
E nela te pinto nua, nua
Numa chama minha e tua.
Numa chama minha e tua.

Desculpa se te fiz fogo e noite
sem pedir autorização por escrito
ao sindicato dos Deuses...
mas não fui eu que te escolhi.
Desculpa se te usei
como refúgio dos meus sentidos
pedaço de silêncios perdidos
que voltei a encontrar em ti...

É que hoje acordei e lembrei-me
Que sou mago feiticeiro...

...E nela te pinto nua, nua
Numa chama minha e tua.
Numa chama minha e tua.

Ainda magoas alguém
O tiro passou-me ao lado
Ainda magoas alguém
Se não te deste a ninguém
magoaste alguém
A mim... passou-me ao lado.
A mim... passou-me ao lado.

I am the passenger....

In 2006, the Brazilian artist, Alexandre Orion, gained attention with his exhibition Metabiotics, a graffiti/photography project in which he painted graffiti pieces in the streets of S.Paulo and photographed people interacting with them.

" I love the waiting ", he says. " Waiting for that exact moment it´s the best part. For me it is a very spiritual moment. "

Like in a theater, Orion creates the scene, waits for it´s personages ( men, women, cars, children, animals ) and transforms it into a piece of art. The incident last only a fraction, the time to shoot a photograph : the apparently non important fragment in which his characters become eternal and gain countless time of exposure in New York, Paris and Lisbon art galleries.

Buy a Book in Heaven

In a world where religion is being replaced by science and where the practicants are decreasing every day, shell we ask the question : what is going to happen to all these amazing church's built by our ancestors ?

One of the best possible answer to this question was given by the Amsterdam based architects Merkx + Girod who converted a 800 year old Dominican church into a temple of books for the Selexyz chain in 2007, in the city center of Maastrich, Netherlands.

With a floor area of just 750 square meters, the architects took advantage of the height of the nave and created a three storey steel structure bookshelf along the church interior, which increased the retail floor space for 1,200 square meters and allows the historic building to be appreciated in it´s magnitude.

Considered by Sean Dodson of the British newspaper, The Guardian, as the most beautiful bookshop in the world and acclaimed by the critic as a model for the reuse of unwanted buildings, the Selexyz Dominicanen is well worst a visit . This is the place to buy a book in heaven !

" Its never something huge that changes everything, but instead the tiniest of details, irrevocably tweaking the balance of the universe while your busy focusing on the big picture. "

" The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake- you cant learn anything from being perfect "

" Dont judge people for how they are today; you never know what they will be like tomorrow "

What´s wrong with the present ?

Um filme a não perder... que me leva a fazer a pergunta : What´s so wrong about the present ?
